Industry Night w/ Todd Hobin: The History of Rock
Todd Hobin is a singer/songwriter and founder of the Todd Hobin Band, who just celebrated their 40th anniversary together. The original members continue to play to a dedicated and growing fan base, delivering the legendary performances that made them one of rock’s hardest working and well-traveled bands. The music is distinctly American, melodic, driving, and powerful. They’ve played thousands of shows and have shared the stage with the greatest bands of their time from The Beach Boys and Kinks, to the Allman Brothers and Hall & Oates.

Their recently released double CD set, The Early Years is filled with Hobin classics: I Hate You, Keepin’ the Dream Alive, New York Country Song, and many more. Their latest album, It’s Not Over continues in the same tradition; critically acclaimed, rocking, thoughtful and uncompromising. They remain a closely held treasure to those who know their music.

As a solo artist Hobin performs with his Trio and with his songwriting partner Doug Moncrief.

Hobin is a gifted and prolific songwriter and composer. He released the Wellness Suite of new age music last year. His music scores can be heard in film, TV, and Audio Books. Credits include scores for King Kong and Shannon Hale’s Goose Girl. He directed and wrote the music for Fairest, a novel by Gail Carson Levine, author of Ella Enchanted, of which Publishers Weekly said, “This is a rare case: the book itself is superb, but the audio production surpasses it.” It was nominated for a prestigious AUDIE Award. As was his production of Graceling by Kristin Cashore.

He was the Musical Director and lead songwriter on the acclaimed, nationally syndicated children’s television series Pappyland. In addition to post-scoring films and videos, he has written and produced for clients as diverse as Coca Cola, Hershey Park, ABC Television, and Tri-Star Pictures. His latest film credits include, Impossible Choice and My Brother and Me.

The pilot episode of his PBS television series Soul Fire Sessions, for which he serves as host, is in production.

He served as a teaching professional with the Recording Connection (Los Angeles) and is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Music Department at Le Moyne College. He is a sought after lecturer on the Music Industry and the History of Rock ‘n’ Roll, and is a contributing writer for Making Music Magazine and International Musician.

Todd has been drawing since childhood. His mother was an artist, his father, an opera singer. Go figure. His art has been featured on the web, in books, and posters here and in Europe.
